TWIGGY

Thankfully, we do not get cases like Twiggy very often as I don’t think any of our hearts could take it on a regular basis.  Twiggy came a few weeks ago from animal control.  She was seized from an abusive owner, who is being prosecuted for her mistreatment.  Twiggy, who is only two and a half, came to us horribly emaciated, balding and looking more like an eight year old.  She was starved for so long that she couldn’t use either of her back legs.  The shelter mom had to nurse her night and day for weeks and we were all elated to find her beginning to use her rear legs and gaining weight.  In addition to being starved and ignored, she had two large tumors that had to be surgically removed (you can see the stitches on the top of her head).   We are very happy to report that even though she had lost a fair amount of hair, she is not adrenal, and now that her stress level has subsided and she’s eating, her coat is making a come back. The shelter mom and all of the volunteers adore her and take every opportunity to show her they love her and that she is special.    This Christmas, unlike the others, there will be kibble in the dish, water in the bowl, a clean bed and, hopefully, a secret Santa all her own.

Things the shelter can always use:  Shelter Bucks, One Touch Ultra strips, Carnivore Care, Science Diet A/D, Ferretone, Laxistat, nutrical, ear cleaner, Walmart gift card to buy cleaning supplies, and maybe a Target gift card so mom can buy her favorite treat in the whole wide world......turkey baby food!

Or a donation to our vet would also be wonderful!  Please make sure you let them know that it is a donation to The Ferret Inn.  If you could also send us your name and address, as we want to make sure you get a big thank you from all the kids.
